Education
Yesterday was my introduction to the wonderful world of teaching CE classes for massage therapists!
5 years ago, I was teaching at McCann in Allentown. If you’ve ever had to give a presentation to a class, imagine doing that for 6 hours, every day, for months at a time…That’s teaching!
I was a little green in the massage world, but I knew my stuff. I was more prepared to teach anatomy than most massage therapists since it really was my passion, and I truly felt fulfilled engaging with the students. Unfortunately the stress of an inconsistent leader, the ever changing policies set forth by the school, and the turmoil in my personal life meant I wasn’t able to stay at the position. My passion for teaching inspired me to create courses for LMTs. How do we improve the field?
So in the summer of last year I reached out to Sage Continuing Education in Lancaster. I’d always enjoyed the classes I took there. They explained that if I was able to create a course, I could teach under the umbrella of the school. After some work together, I created 4 courses, and my first was a course on massage for those who had received total knee replacements.
Currently I am only qualified to teach for Pennsylvania continuing education, but am looking forward to expanding this to anyone in the USA in the next few months!
